Jesse Young is an anthropologist with a focus on archaeology, studying the fermentation practices of past & present cultures. While on an archaeological dig in Trim, Ireland at the 13th century Irish monastery, Blackfriary, he collected stories, poems and songs from local artists and townsfolk with his Pint for Poem Project. As he archives this material he is a stay-at-home dad for his baby daughter. On weekends he teaches the ancient craft of fermentation with classes on brewing–from Paleolithic and Medieval to Modern– at the Cairn Brewing Co. brewery in Kenmore, Washington. He also tells folktales to school children.
